Our annual Doubles Tournament takes place one weekend in September. Courts will be busy both days so you might need to make alternate plans if you want to play that weekend. We will have Open, Mixed and Women's Draws and prizes for all winners and runners-up. We've had friends, married couples, and father-son/daughter teams play. Everyone is welcome! We will have Fort Greene tennis merchandise on sale so come out and see some tennis!
Registration has closed
The draws for this year's FGTA Doubles Tournament are ready and attached here. Please take a look and double check the dates and the times for all draws. This year we have more than 60 teams so there is going to be a ton of tennis this weekend!
Pre-match
Once you get to the courts, check in with a member of the Fort Greene Tennis Association (see our website if you're not sure what we look like) to let them know you have arrived. Note that you and your partner must bring one fresh can of balls to each match and the winners will take the unused can with them for the next round.
Please arrive 30 minutes before your match is scheduled to begin in case we can get you on early (one exception - for those of you with 8 am matches on Saturday, please only arrive 15 minutes early).
Scoring
We will be playing Fast4 format with ad scoring for almost all matches:
Matches are best of three Fast4 sets. For the first two sets, the first to 4 games wins.
At one set all, play a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a full third set. 10-point tiebreakers are: first to 10 points wins with win-by-2 scoring.
If a set goes to 4 games all, play a regular 7-point tiebreaker to decide the set. 7-point tiebreakers are: first to 7 points wins and with win-by-2 scoring.
Once you're on court
After you've signed in, we will assign your match to an open court and will start the clock on a 5-minute warm up. Once you finish, report your score and stick around to watch more tennis!
P.S. If the forecast is looking rainy for Saturday we will send out an email on Friday evening with an update.
